WEDDING vs WEEDING

1.0 INTRODUCTION

Today, I'm going to mumble about common mistakes happened in FB. As we know, FB is the best place to share our best moment in this entire world. One of them is Marriage.

I often found people talked about "their weeding"... wait a minute! WEEDING? is it suppose to be WEDDING, right?

A: jap jap jap... weeding tu kan merumput? kenapa letak gambar berkahwin sedangkan tulis merumput?
B: eh apa plak, betullah dia eja tu. cuba ko sebut (Wedding.. kan bunyinya macam Weeding?)

Kawan-kawan, anda silap! Ejaan Bahasa Inggeris sememangnya tak sama seperti ejaan Bahasa Melayu.
Di sini saya berikan sedikit maklumat mengenai dua perkataan tersebut.
2.0 DEFINITION

According to Merriam-Webster dictionary:-

2.1 WEDDING:

1 : a marriage ceremony usually with its accompanying festivities : nuptials
2 : an act, process, or instance of joining in close association
3 : a wedding anniversary or its celebration —usually used in combination a golden wedding

2.2 WEEDING

WEEDING derives from word 'WEED'
Definition of WEED

1 a (1) : a plant that is not valued where it is growing and is usually of vigorous growth; especially : one that tends to overgrow or choke out more desirable plants (2) : a weedygrowth of plantsb : an aquatic plant; especially : seaweedc (1) : tobacco products (2) : marijuana
2 a : an obnoxious growth, thing, or personb : something like a weed in detrimental quality; especially :an animal unfit to breed from.
weeding : present participle of weed (Verb) (pronounciation: wēd-ing\ (Weeeeeee-ding)

Verb:

Remove unwanted plants from (an area of ground or the plants cultivated in it).
Remove something, esp. inferior or unwanted items or members from a group or collection.
Makna dalam bahasa Melayu: Merumput

3.0 FINDINGS

WEDDING and WEEDING are not the same thing. Even their definitions explain entirely different.

Pesanan:
Oleh itu kawan-kawan, sila berhati-hati apabila mengeja perkataan Bahasa Inggeris. Saya faham..hati tengah kemuncak nak berkongsi perasaan dengan sahabat handai dan excited nak guna BI. Tak salah wahai kawanku, tetapi semaklah dulu maksudnya sebelum pakai tabur aje. Kan dah lari maksud! Sebaiknya, ubahlah semula nama tajuk album supaya ia memberi makna yang sebenarnya.
